Five of Birmingham City’s opening eight matches of the new season will be screened live on Sky Sports.

Blues are a big TV draw in the Championship and the new campaign will begin with their match against Ipswich Town at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Friday, August 8.

In addition to their meeting with the Tractor Boys, Blues have seen four more matches selected for live coverage before the end of September.

The Carabao Cup first round tie against Sheffield United has been moved to Wednesday, August 13 (8pm) so that it can be televised.

Blues’ trip to recently relegated Leicester City on the final weekend of August has been brought forward to Friday, August 29 (8pm). Two of Blues’ opening four league games will take place in Sky’s Friday night slot.

In the second half of September Blues have two 12:30pm kick-offs to contend with. The home match against Swansea on Saturday, September 20 has been moved to a lunchtime slot for Sky Sports+, while the Midlands derby at Coventry City on September 27 will be played out on Sky Sports Football.

Leicester are the only team who feature more prominently than Blues in Sky’s early season selections. The Foxes will be on the box six times in total and five of their matches, including the one against Blues, will be Sky’s main game on that particular day.
