Dominic Calvert-Lewin announced his departure from Everton on Monday after nine years with the club, having joined from Sheffield United as a 19-year-old.

Now 28, the striker departs Merseyside having scored 71 goals added 22 assists in his 273 matches for the Toffees, but upon the expiry of his contract with the club, his departure has been confirmed as he looks for pastures new in a bid to revive his career.

The 11-time England international had his standout season at Goodison Park in the 2020-21 campaign under Carlo Ancelotti, scoring 21 goals in all competitions as the club delivered their only top 10 finish in the last six seasons.

Since that campaign, the striker has just 17 Premier League goals to his name over the last four seasons, including just three in the league campaign as he struggled for game time, completing 90 minutes just once post-November and missing three months through injury.

West Ham are rumoured to be the side leading the hunt for the 28-year-old, with Graham Potter looking to bolster his options in the position which has been an issue with the team for a number of years now.

New strikers seem to come and go at the London Stadium but the managers always tend to fall back on 35-year-old Michail Antonio as their first choice.

Danny Ings has just left the east London club this summer upon the expiry of his contract, while Evan Ferguson has returned to Brighton from his loan spell which delivered zero goals in eight appearances, leaving just Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, both well into their 30s and the latter struggling to impress in his first season at the club with just three goals from 20 appearances.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin next club odds (talkSPORT BET)

  • West Ham - 4/1
  • Newcastle - 5/1
  • Manchester United - 11/2
  • Arsenal - 9/1
  • Nottingham Forest - 11/1
  • Brighton - 14/1
  • Leeds - 14/1
  • Tottenham - 14/1

Newcastle are also in the market for a new striker as they look to beef up their squad ahead of the added pressure of playing Champions League football this season.

There are rumours circulating in the north east that Alexander Isak could be on his way out of St James' Park though those talks have ceased of late, though Callum Wilson leaving the club leaves room for another striker in the squad, and someone with the quality of Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer could be tempting.

Manchester United are priced as the third favourites to sign the Yorkshireman, having splashed plenty of cash of number nines in recent transfer windows without having found the right fit.

The Red Devils have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as their only two out and out nines in the first team but neither has been able to pin down the position since their signings, which could leave Ruben Amorim looking elsewhere in the market, and taking a punt on Calvert-Lewin on a free seems a relatively risk-free one.

The free of risk idea in the days where PSR regulations have such a strong presence in the transfer markets could also tempt the likes of Arsenal to flirt with the idea of signing the striker, with talkSPORT BET priced at 9/1 to make the move.

Nottingham Forest are preparing for their first season in European competition in 41 years and need to bolster their squad to prepare for the added workload, with Calvert-Lewin another potential option for them at 11/1.

Brighton, newly promoted Leeds and Tottenham, who are also in the Champions League next season despite their 17th placed Premier League finish, are priced slightly further afield to make a move for the 28-year-old striker.
