In the Championship, relegated duo Ipswich and Southampton are at the top of the odds table priced at 9/2 and 11/2 respectively for an instant return to the Premier League by winning the second tier title.

Last season's beaten play-off finalists Sheffield United are third in the list at 8/1, marginally ahead of the current League One champions Birmingham, who are priced at 9/1 to win back to back divisional titles and get themselves promoted into the Premier League at the first attempt.

In League One, newly relegated duo Luton and Cardiff are the top two favourites to win the third division title and secure an instant return back to the Championship, with the Hatters 4/1 favourites for the title with the Bluebirds tied on 7/1 with Huddersfield.

The third relegated side Plymouth are priced slightly further afield at 8/1, with the likes of Bolton, Stockport and Blackpool just behind at 11s and 12s.

In League Two, MK Dons are strong favourites to secure the fourth division title after a very strong opening few weeks of the transfer window, with the Buckinghamshire side priced at 7/2.

Last season's beaten play-off semi finalists Chesterfield are second favourites for the title at 8/1, marginally ahead of their rivals Notts County, who are priced at 12/1 along with both Gillingham and Salford.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Although Liam Delap has left Portman Road, Kieran McKenna remains in the hot seat with 34.3% of the money placed in the Championship being on the Tractor Boys making hay this coming campaign.

“The Luton roller-coaster finds itself back in League One but the money is telling us that they could be on the up again with 42.5% of stakes being placed on the Hatters.

“With Paul Warne in the dugout and some impressive early signings, MK Dons’ outright odds have tumbled from 8/1 into 4/1, fuelled by over 6,000 wagers so far, representing 53.4% of the total money wagered on the League Two outright market so far.

“The acquisitions of Gethin Jones and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing would be strong signings on their own, but the capture of Aaron Collins has really caught the eye of both punters and bookmakers.”
