The Championship season will begin at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park with a mouth-watering clash between Birmingham City and recently relegated Ipswich Town.

Blues will face promotion favourites Ipswich under the lights on Friday, August 8 (8pm) and the match is expected to be screened live on Sky Sports.

Chris Davies’ side are looking to emulate Ipswich by jumping from League One to the Premier League in successive seasons and will test themselves against the Tractor Boys first up.

Blues will then make the trip to Blackburn Rovers for their first away game before rounding off August by hosting Gary Rowett's Oxford United and travelling to Leicester City.

Derby County will visit St Andrew’s on Boxing Day and Blues are scheduled to travel to Watford on New Year’s Day.

There are plenty of Midlands matches to look forward to this year and Blues will face their nearest neighbours West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Wednesday, November 26 before the return match at St Andrew's on Saturday, February 14.

The final home match of the season will see Blues entertain Bristol City on April 25 before the campaign is rounded off in Portsmouth on May 2.

As ever, fixtures are subject to change due to broadcasting selections and Blues are expected to be a draw for Sky Sports this coming season.
