Hull City have cancelled the contract of striker Joao Pedro by mutual consent.

The move comes just a month after the club triggered a one-year extension to the Italian's deal.

As a result, he had been under contract in East Yorkshire until the summer of 2026.

However, Pedro will now leave the Tigers after nine months at MKM Stadium.

During that time he scored six goals in 35 Championship appearances as well as providing two assists.

In a statement, Hull confirmed they had made the decision 'to allow him to pursue other opportunities'.

Pedro had joined the club on a free transfer in September following his departure from Fenerbahce a month earlier.

The 33-year-old will now be searching for a new side ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Hull also confirmed their fourth summer signing just an hour after Pedro's departure.

Defender Semi Ajayi will join the Tigers following the expiry of his West Brom contract.

The 31-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

His move follows the permanent arrivals of Gustavo Puerta, Reda Laalaoui and Dillon Phillips.

Hull finished 21st in the Championship last season, one place above the relegation zone.

The Tigers avoided the drop on goal difference following a final day draw at Portsmouth.

That result was not enough to save Ruben Selles' job, though, as the Spaniard was sacked following the end of the season.

Sergej Jakirovic has since taken charge ahead of the start of pre-season.

The Bosnian joins from Turkish side Kayserispor on a two-year deal.

As for Selles, he was confirmed as Chris Wilder's successor at Sheffield United this week.
