One of Ipswich Town's likely promotion rivals next season, Sheffield United, have changed managers.
Following relegation from the Premier League in 2024, the Blades looked on course for a quickfire return. Despite a two-point deduction for breaking financial rules, they were two points clear at the end of March.
Just seven points gained from their final seven games saw them finish third though, on 90 points, and they went on to lose to Sunderland, in stoppage-time, in the Play-Off Final.
Chris Wilder and his coaching staff left by 'mutual agreement' last night following rumours he was uncomfortable with AI-led recruitment models. Within less than an hour, former Southampton, Reading and Hull City boss Ruben Selles was announced as his replacement.
The 42-year-old said: "This is a very powerful and ambitious project - it was very important at the start of the conversations that everyone is on the same page.
"We need to embrace data and new technologies, but the most important thing is not to forget the football essence.
"The fans can expect a team which is not going to wait or be reactive, we will be proactive, we are going to go and try and be as competitive as we can in every single game."
Selles started coaching at a young age and gained experience in Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan, Denmark and his native Spain. He was in temporary charge when Southampton were relegated from the Premier League in 2023. A spell in charge of an in turmoil Reading followed - after a 17th place finish in League One, he had the Royals up in sixth midway through last season. That saw Hull appoint him in January and there he helped guide the Tigers to Championship safety.

Wilder, who signed a new three-year deal at Bramall Lane in January, said in a statement: "I'm obviously disappointed to be leaving, particularly because we were so close to getting back to the Premier League.
"I'm a Sheffielder through and through, I love this club and this city and that feeling will never change.
"I depart with some cherished memories and feel proud to be talked about in the same manner that special Sheffield United managers are remembered – leading this team over 300 times will remain an incredible part of my life."
Sheffield United are currently ranked as the bookies' third favourites for Championship promotion next season behind Ipswich and Southampton.
They are the sixth Championship club to appoint a new boss since the end of last season following on from Southampton (Will Still), West Brom (Ryan Mason), Norwich (Liam Manning), Watford (Paulo Pezzolano) and Hull City (Sergej Jakirovic).
Vacancies still remain at Bristol City and Middlesbrough.
Ipswich's Kieran McKenna, appointed in December 2021, is now the 11th longest-serving manager across England's top four divisions and second in the Championship (to Wrexham's Phil Parkinson).
