Birmingham City are reportedly at the front of the queue in the quest to sign former Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie.

The forward is expected to be available on a free transfer this summer due to a clause in his contract that says he can leave Las Palmas if they were relegated.

After dropping out of La Liga, McBurnie's future is now under scrutiny with Celta Vigo said to be keen on the 29-year-old.

But a return to England is also an option with Blues, Swansea and Hull City all reported to be keen on the ex-Blades striker.

Blues are said to have tabled a lucrative offer to sign McBurnie, who scored five goals in the Spanish top flight last season.

And with Blues looking to beef up their attack ahead of their return to the Championship, McBurnie packs plenty of second-tier experience.

Blues fans have been discussing the merits of a move for McBurnie and here's how they have responded on social media.

Kian: "This isn't FIFA. There isn't some mysterious 21-year-old sitting on the scouting list waiting to be bought who's gonna bang. McBurnie scored his last Premier League goal only a year ago, just played in La Liga, and only just turned 29 and has a good record in this league."

Matt: "McBurnie would be a great signing."

Max: "Who do we think we are? Some of our fans turning their nose up at Ollie McBurnie."

Jack: "Another case of people writing off a player before his joined, it's literally a rumour. Could be agent talk. I think McBurnie would do a job for us, we lack height up top but he is also decent with the ball at his feet, offers more than Dykes IMO."

Dan : "McBurnie. Character that will be loved by the Tilton and away day ends. Proper old school attitude - throw his weight around and will be a different option to use. If Davies says yes then he's good enough for me."

Arq: "Think Dykes goes if we sign McBurnie. Wouldn't be against that TBH, quite the upgrade."
