A selection of former Ipswich Town players and current loanees are set for play-off action for their respective clubs. Ross Halls takes a look.

KIEFFER MOORE - SHEFFIELD UNITED

The forward helped Town secure promotion to the Premier League last season and is looking to make it back-to-back promotions with the Blades.

Moore joined Chris Wilder's side from AFC Bournemouth last summer, and has since scored five goals in 27 Championship games this campaign.

Harry Clarke recently returned to Portman Road after his loan spell was cut short due to injury at Bramall Lane.

The Blades finished third in the second tier and will face Bristol City in the semi-finals, with the first leg being played tonight.

CAMERON HUMPHREYS - WYCOMBE WANDERERS

The midfielder has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Adams Park, where he has won multiple awards and earned the nickname ‘The Suffolk Messi’.

Humphreys has been a key player for Mike Dodds' side, who slipped to fifth place on the final day of the League One season.

Former Town loanee Will Norris is among his Chairboys team-mates, who will take on Charlton Athletic in the play-offs, with the first leg being played on Sunday.

The Addicks have former Town forward Gassan Ahadme in their ranks, but he hasn't featured since the start of April.

DOM BALL - LEYTON ORIENT

The midfielder left Town last summer after playing a supporting role in their back-to-back promotions to the top flight.

Ball dropped down to the third tier, signing a one-year deal at Brisbane Road back in September. He has been a regular for Richie Wellens' men, who finished in the final play-off spot on the last day.

The O's also have former Town loanee Jordan Graham in their ranks, but he was ruled out for the season due to an ankle injury back in November.

In the semi-finals they face Stockport County, who have former Town loanee Callum Connolly in their side. The first leg of the tie will take place on Saturday.

ARMANDO DOBRA - CHESTERFIELD

The winger has impressed once again, bagging nine goals in 42 games for the Spireites in their return to the fourth tier after promotion last season.

Dobra was named Player of the Year after being a key man in Paul Cook's side, who finished in the final play-off spot.

The former Town boss has another ex-Blue in Janoi Donacien among his playing squad but he is side-lined due to a hamstring injury.

They face Walsall in their semi-final, the first leg to be played on Sunday, and have former Town forward Ellis Harrison in their team on loan from MK Dons.

DAVID MCGOLDRICK - NOTTS COUNTY

The veteran forward is still scoring goals at the age of 37, netting 17 in 35 games for Stuart Maynard's side, who finished sixth in League Two.

McGoldrick returned to his boyhood club in the summer of 2023, becoming a key player for the Magpies.

They now face AFC Wimbledon in the fourth tier semi-final, with the first leg being played at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

The Dons have a fellow ex-Town striker Joe Pigott in their ranks, who is on loan from Leyton Orient for the season.

LEON AYINDE - ROCHDALE

The Irishman joined the Dale on loan back in August, where he has notched two goals in 27 games in the National League.

Ayinde picked up a muscle injury which kept him out of action for over two months, but returned to action for Jimmy McNulty's side, who finished fourth in the fifth tier.

The Greater Manchester club will face Southend United in a play-off eliminator next week. The Essex outfit have former Town forward Macauley Bonne in their squad.

JOE GARNER AND JAMES NORWOOD - OLDHAM ATHLETIC

The duo will likely play different roles for the Latics in their play-off eliminator against Halifax Town next week.

Garner, who is now 37, has struggled with fitness this season, but returned to action last month and netted twice on the final day against Ebbsfleet United.

Norwood has notched nine goals in 25 games in the fifth tier for Micky Mellon's side, but has been out of action since the end of March, so is unlikely to play.

They will come up against former Town academy graduate Josh Emmanuel, who joined the Shaymen back in March, following a spell at Doncaster.

GEORGE FOWLER - MAIDSTONE UNITED

The former academy graduate has been a mainstay for George Elokobi's side once again in the 2024/25 season.

Fowler has been at the Kent side since 2021 and was part of the squad that famously beat Town in the FA Cup last campaign.

The Stones finished in the final spot of the play-offs in the National League South, meaning they had two play two play-off games which they won 2-0 at Worthing and 2-1 at Eastbourne Borough.

Next up is a trip to Boreham Wood in the final for a place in the National League on Sunday, May 18th.
