Oxford United boss Gary Rowett believes his side's impressive win over Sheffield United can only be considered "a great three points" if they build on it against Queens Park Rangers.

The U's beat the promotion-chasing Blades 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday to boost their survival hopes.

Oxford are four points clear of the Championship's bottom three heading into their final six games, a run that begins with a home fixture against QPR on Wednesday.

QPR are only a point and two places above Oxford in 16th.

A seven-game winless run for Marti Cifuentes' men, which has included five defeats, means they are still not safe.

They were 11th and 15 points clear of danger after their last victory, a 4-0 win against Derby County on 14 February.

U's head coach Rowett, whose side have won their last two home games, told BBC Radio Oxford: "They'll want to come and win the game and try and put it to bed for them.

"We want to try and win the game and see if we can build on what was a great three points [against Sheffield United].

"But it only becomes a great three points if maybe you can go and add to that.

"We know the challenge, we know we're a good team, we know they have good players.

"We will always be respectful of how good teams are and how good they can be on their day in this division."
