Premier League LIVE: Newcastle hit Leicester for three, Man United interested in Cunha, Juric leaves Southampton

The Premier League season run-in is well underway.

Arsenal dropped more points on Saturday as the title slipped further and further away from their grasp.

However, Liverpool failed to capitalise as they were handed just their second league loss under Arne Slot at Fulham.

A lacklustre Manchester derby then ended goalless ahead of the final match of this gameweek, where Newcastle beat Leicester 3-0.

Southampton became the first team to be relegated this season on Sunday, and manager Ivan Juric left the club less than a day later.

  • Bleak

Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed his worry over the situation at Leicester this season.

The Dutchman has been beaten for the 16th time in 20 matches as Foxes boss since his arrival in November.

"Very difficult especially after 33 minutes, we lost another game starting with the best intentions," he told Match of the Day.

"We lost another early goal. It's very disappointing and worrying. It's a big challenge. We all know the run of form we're in.

"It's extremely difficult. Especially if there aren't light points to build on. The most difficult thing is we are in a place for such a long time and there are no results.

"The most important thing is the club and to bring it forward. That's the worrying part."

  • Unwanted history

Eight consecutive home defeats with zero goals scored is a dismal run of form for Leicester.

It spans from December until April and leaves fans wondering what's going wrong in attack.

    • December 22 - Wolves - Lost 0-3
    • December 29 - Manchester City - Lost 0-2
    • January 15 - Crystal Palace - Lost 0-2
    • January 18 - Fulham - Lost 0-2
    • February 15 - Arsenal - Lost 0-2
    • February 21 - Brentford - Lost 0-4
    • March 16 - Manchester United - Lost 0-3
    • April 7 - Newcastle - Lost 0-3

This could extend to 11 by the end of the season when Liverpool, Southampton and Ipswich Town visit the King Power Stadium.

  • 'Makes us feel awful'

James Justin has reflected on another dismal night in Leicester's season.

The Foxes have become the first side in football league history to lose eight home league games in a row without scoring a goal.

Relegation to the Championship looms, and Justin has relayed the felling inside the club.

"It's hard to describe, to be honest, with how it's been and it makes us feel awful right at the moment," he told Premier League Productions.

"You feel disconnection and disappointment when you step off the pitch. All we can do is give our all for the shirt. It's not been good enough for a couple of months now.

"It's hard to find confidence. I don't know how many games it's been since we last picked up a point.

"It's a horrible moment for the club with how we're playing on the pitch and trying to regain any confidence.

"There were bright spells from the lads who came off the bench and that's the one positive to take.

"There is still a chance for us and we have to fight and claw for it but we aren't showing it on the pitch."

  • Leicester 0-3 Newcastle: Full-time

It's all over, and Leicester have been beaten in the Premier League for the 22nd time this season.

Three first half goals from Newcastle were enough to seal all three points in their chase for Champions League football.

But Leicester steal the headlines as they get closer to relegation back to the Championship.

More boos rang out at full-time as 15 points now separate them and Premier League safety.

  • Leicester 0-3 Newcastle

Amid another disappointing Leicester performance, there has been a cause for optimism.

Jeremy Monga has just come onto the pitch to make his senior debut for the Foxes having graduated from their academy.

In doing so, the winger has become the second youngest player in the history of the Premier League aged 15 years and 271 days.

Monga has also entered play with a sponsorless kit, with the club's front-of-shirt sponsor the gambling company BC.Game.

You must be at least 18-years-old to gamble in the United Kingdom, so the teenager is unable to don the sponsor.

  • Leicester 0-3 Newcastle

Leicester's scoring woes have been highlighted by a statistic that makes for grim reading.

It's been 12 hours since the Foxes last scored in the Premier League.

During that time, they have had 52 shots on goal and conceded 21.

Leicester's last goal came in their 2-1 win at Tottenham in January, and seven league defeats have followed since then.

  • Leicester 0-3 Newcastle

    The second half is underway.

Newcastle will be hoping to extend the scoreline and boost their goal difference.

Leicester on the other hand will need to find an early response if they are to get anything out of this.

  • Leicester 0-3 Newcastle: Half-time

Loud boos ring around the King Power Stadium as the half-time whistle is blown.

Newcastle have been excellent and hold a deserved 3-0 lead at the break, whereas Leicester have been so poor.

Jamie Vardy came close to the opener just seconds into the match and it could have been a different story if he scored.

But Newcastle made it 1-0 themselves just moments later and have barely been tested since then.

  • GOAL! Leicester 0-3 Newcastle: Harvey Barnes

That's surely game, set and match to Newcastle.

Alexander Isak goes on a great run and his shot is blocked, though Joelinton is there to fire another effort on goal.

It's saved but Harvey Barnes is there against his former club to make it 3-0 with around ten minutes left until half-time.

A number of Leicester fans have started making their way for the exits, and can you blame them?

  • GOAL! Leicester 0-2 Newcastle: Jacob Murphy

    Newcastle are running riot!

Fabian Schar hits an audacious effort from inside his own half and sees it crash off the crossbar.

But Jacob Murphy is there to run onto the loose ball to score his and Newcastle's second of the night on 11 minutes.

Leicester have to wake up, but this match may already be out of sight.

  • GOAL! Leicester 0-1 Newcastle: Jacob Murphy

We're underway at the King Power Stadium and there's already been a goal.

Leicester almost get off to an unbelievable start as Jamie Vardy's shot is tipped behind by Nick Pope.

But Jacob Murphy has fired Newcastle ahead after just two minutes from a Tino Livramento cross.

It's a nightmare start for the relegation-threatened Leicester.

Lucas Paqueta spot-fixing hearing has been adjourned until the summer, talkSPORT understands

The West Ham midfielder, who denies wrongdoing, has been under investigation for spot-fixing.

Paqueta has been accused of picking up four deliberate yellow cards and could face a lengthy ban.

However, the adjourning of the hearing means he is free to see out the rest of the season with West Ham.

The Hammers are confident he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

The Football Association declined to comment when contacted by talkSPORT.

  • Saka: 'I am really proud of Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri'

Bukayo Saka on the club's academy: "The latest example is those two boys - Myles [Lewis-Skelly] and Ethan [Nwaneri] and how talented they both are.

"I'm always there for them if they want to ask me any questions - they do sometimes, sometimes they don't but I always make myself available to them.

"I'm really proud to see the steps that they are making and I hope they keep grounded and keep working hard.

"This is Arsenal, this is what we do. We've done it in the past and I just hope we keep continuing to do it so we can save more money!"

  • Man arrested for assault of Jack Grealish

A twenty-year-old man has been charged with the assault of England star Jack Grealish during the Manchester derby.

According to the Daily Mail, the incident occurred after full-time at Old Trafford following the scoreless draw between Man City and Man United.

The report claims Grealish was coaxed over by a member of the crowd next to the tunnel, only to be assaulted.

It adds that the 29-year-old is not believed to have been seriously injured from the attack.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: ‘Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been charged with assault. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court.

‘This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday.’

  • Nev-er say never

Troy Deeney has called on Gary Neville to use his position to help tackle 'boring' Premier League matches.

The eight-time title winner hit out at an 'illness in the game' following Sunday's Manchester Derby.

After being asked if the ex-England man is right, he told Breakfast: "To an extent, he's right.

"I think he also plays a part in it with his commentary. If people do be a little bit adventurous or don't defend properly, he's the first to hammer them.

"So, he has to understand his voice carries a lot of weight as well.

"When people do try things, he's got to now encourage that through his platform that he has. And don't just be in this place of everything's negative because he can moan, can't he, Gary?

"I do like Gary, but he can moan all day. So, that's my take on Gary Neville."

  • No time to Kyl

How does one stop Kylian Mbappe?

Well, according to former centre-back and Arsenal great Martin Keown, it will most certainly be a collective effort.

“You do it together as a back four,” Keown told talkSPORT.com.

“Arsenal like to press. It’s where you press and making sure you control him (Mbappe), he doesn’t control you.

“We did see a situation against [Alexander] Isak for Newcastle where they had a lot of players running into space. Maybe Real Madrid have looked at that.

“Arsenal can go and sit very deep and then they’re harder to break down. But it’s initially when you lose that ball, whether or not you’re going tight to your man or whether you’re pushing up as a team. So that needs to be worked out.

“And I think by and large Arsenal have done that very well, done that better than anyone else in the Premier League so far this season. Their defensive record is outstanding.”

  • Buk the trend

Bukayo Saka was also asked about his contract situation during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

The Arsenal talisman said: "For me I want to win and I want to win wearing this badge so I think it's pretty clear.

"The fans know how much I love them and you saw on Tuesday I think they loved me back so it's a good relationship and I'm really happy to be here. I'm just focused on winning.

"It just reassured everything. It was special.

"You had to be in the stadium [on Tuesday] to really understand and feel the noise and energy they brought for me.

"I'm really grateful, I just want to win here."

  • Coming for Cunha

Manchester United are interested in signing Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, talkSPORT understands.

Cunha has a release clause of £62.5 million, which kicks in this summer.

Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Cunha, but the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams are ahead of him on their list in both the number nine and left-wing positions.

Nottingham Forest retain a firm interest in Cunha, however, it’s understood from those close to the player that he prefers to join a big-six club, even if Forest qualify for the Champions League.

Man United are looking for a number 10 to fit into Ruben Amorim's rigid 3-4-2-1 system.

It is understood Cunha's agent will fly to England soon for face-to-face talks with potential suitors and has already made some initial contact with United.

  • Fed up

Fede Valverde has been named as Real Madrid’s most important player of the moment ahead of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe.

Los Blancos face Arsenal in a crunch Champions League quarter-final showdown with the first leg of the tie taking place this week.

Speaking on the Trans Euro Express, Brassell believes that despite sacrificing his game for the sake of the team, Valverde needs to play in his natural role to aid their cause against Arsenal.

Discussing Madrid’s most important player, Brassell said: “I understand making the case for Valverde.

“A little bit like a prime Michael Essien for Chelsea, you know he can do a great job in a number of positions.

“You stick him at right back, he’s great. Stick him at centre-back when he played in place of John Terry and he was great, but how much do you miss him in midfield?

“That’s always the thing with Valverde.

“The worst I’ve seen Real Madrid play this season was the hour at Anfield when they had Valverde at right-back.

“Is it because he’s an incapable right-back? No. It’s because they miss him in midfield.

“They need him in his position and Ancelotti has used him in that Rodrygo spot on the right-hand side almost like a right-sided forward to do a defensive role.”

  • Saka: Dream to win Ballon d'Or - but dodges Vini Jr and Mbappe comparisons

Trent Alexander-Arnold is not the only England player with one eye on winning football's biggest individual honour.

When asked about the Ballon d'Or, Bukayo Saka said: "It's a dream.

"I think it's a dream for a lot of players. I'm just working hard to do my best for my team."

Saka was then quizzed on how far he thinks he is from the level of the likes of Ballon d'Or front-runners Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe.

He replied: "I think it's very opinionated.

"I think everyone will have something different to say, but I don't really want to sit here saying they're a level above me and stuff like that because that's not the way I think.

"I'll just leave everyone to have their opinion but other things will speak for itself."

  • Sak race

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is next up, and claims he feels mentally fresh after coming back from injury.

The England international has been out with a hamstring issue since December and required surgery to fix it.

He scored just moments after stepping off the bench during his comeback - a 2-1 win over Fulham last midweek, with another cameo from the bench during the 1-1 draw at Everton on Saturday.

On the frustration of his injury, Saka said: "It was tough for me, it came at a bad moment but I'm just focused now on the positives and I couldn't ask to come back at a better time of the season than now."

On the break he's had due to injury, Saka continued: "I think mentally it was really good for me.

"Obviously it was really tough for me initially to find out the extent of my injury, that I was going to have surgery, it was really tough for me to hear the news at first but once it was done and successful I was just focused on coming back stronger and I had a lot of time.

"The past five years I've been playing game after game so it was the first proper break I've had. It was really good for me.

"I got to do a lot of things that I don't normally do. It's really nice to be back and I feel fresh mentally."

  • Arteta provides positive team news update

Mikel Arteta has arrived for his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.

On team news, the Spaniard said: "Yeah it looks like it [everyone is available after the 1-1 draw with Everton].

"We have another training session this afternoon, Ben [White] finished the game. He was fine after the game.

"The rest went through the game and they were able to do some bits yesterday ready to train today."

Arteta was asked if he has decided what he will do without Gabriel, having started Jakub Kiwior on Saturday, and replied: "Yes, decided."

The reporter asked if he would tell us: "No."

On Bukayo Saka and whether he is ready to start, Arteta added: "He is in a much better place, gradually we have built his minutes in the last six or seven days, he has coped with that really well and he is in a good place to be able to be used."

  • Roll out the red carpet

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has confirmed that 'progress' has been made in negotiations over a new contract.

The Netherlands skipper's current deal expires this summer, and he has yet to sign an extension despite expressing a desire to stay.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold's preference to leave Anfield at the end of the season has seemingly accelerated talks with Van Dijk.

The 33-year-old has now provided a positive update about his future when he spoke to reporters following Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at Fulham.

“There is progress, yeah,” he said.

Asked if that meant he would be staying at Liverpool beyond this season, he added: “I don’t know, we’ll see. Listen, these are internal discussions and we’ll see.

“I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again and we wanted to reward them.

“But I want them to be there Sunday again (at home to West Ham) and make the stadium an amazing venue like always for us.”
