Tottenham 2-3 Arsenal LIVE REACTION: Gunners see off second-half comeback from bitter rivals to extend lead at top of Premier League table

Arsenal managed to overcome a late comeback from Tottenham to beat their bitter rivals 3-2 in a Premier League thriller.

Mikel Arteta's men were 3-0 up at half time before making two errors and gifting Spurs a way back into the game, leading to a nervous finish.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg inadvertently opened the scoring when he headed past his goalkeeper from a corner.

Bukayo Saka doubled the lead on the counter-attack after Micky van de Ven saw an equaliser chalked off by VAR for offside.

Kai Havertz made it three when he headed home from another corner.

David Raya then passed the ball straight to Cristian Romero in the second half, and he finished past the Spaniard.

Declan Rice then ensured it was going to be a nervy finish when he kicked Ben Davies in the box.

Heung-min Son scored the resulting penalty, but Ange Postecoglou's men couldn't find a third, and the Gunners held on to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

    • Three of Arsenal’s last seven goals in this fixture in the Premier League have been own goals by Spurs players (Hugo Lloris in January 2023, Cristian Romero in September 2023 and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg today); since the start of last season, Spurs’ three own goals against Arsenal in the competition are the most by a side against any opponent.
    • Bukayo Saka has scored 15 goals for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, his most in a single campaign. With his strike today, he also became the first English player to score home and away for Arsenal against Spurs in a league campaign since Ian Wright in 1993-94.
    • Kai Havertz has scored and assisted in four different Premier League games this season; the most by an Arsenal player in a single campaign since Alexis Sánchez in 2016-17 (4).
    • Spurs’ Son Heung-Min has netted seven goals in the North London derby in the Premier League, taking him level with Robert Pirès (7). Only Harry Kane (14) and Emmanuel Adebayor (8) have now scored more in this fixture in the competition than the Spurs forward (7).
  • Saka back to his best

Bukayo Saka hasn't been in the greatest form for the last few weeks, looking tired in plenty of games.

However, this was much better from the winger, who caused Ben Davies all sorts of problems all afternoon.

If the Gunners are to mount a title challenge, they will need him to be sharp in the last three games.

  • Postecoglou reacts to defeat

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been speaking to the media about Spurs' 3-2 defeat at home to Arsenal.

He said: "We are disappointed, with the outcome.

"It was a big game for us and our fans, and we unfortunately, gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

"All three goals were disappointing. It's all about the details, and sometimes, you have to take the pain when you aren't focused on the details.

"At half time, I felt we owed our supporters.

"We couldn't let them just see us accept our fate.

"To the players' credit, they pushed it all the way."
