Chelsea v Everton preview

Chelsea head into tonight's crunch Premier League clash looking to get back to winning ways having dropped points against the top flight's bottom two clubs in their last three matches, behind held to 2-2 draws by both Burnley and Sheffield United.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have only lost one of their last 11 matches in all competitions ahead of tonight's opponents, that defeat coming against Merseyside opposition in an extra time defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final back in February.

The Blues head into tonight's match in ninth place in the Premier League table, four points behind West Ham in eighth but with three games in hand over them.

The west London side are just six points off Newcastle and Manchester United, who are tied for points in sixth and seventh place, with Chelsea, who will have their eyes on that top six finish and a place in next season's Europa League, having played two matches fewer, leaving tonight's game as a huge chance to close that gap.

The Blues have won four of their last five home matches in all competitions, and will be confident of extending that run against an Everton side struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Everton make the trip to the capital having won just once in the league since mid-December, coming in last week's 1-0 win over Burnley, and will be hoping to add to that tally over the remaining weeks of the season to retain their place in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche's side head into tonight's game 16th in the Premier League table, just two points and two places above the relegation zone, a result of having been deducted eight points across the season.

Like Chelsea, the Toffees do have a couple of games in hand over the majority of the teams around them, and will be bidding to make the most of those, starting tonight, as they seek to distance themselves from any final day relegation jeopardy.

The Merseyside club are without defeat in either of their last two games but have lost three of their last five, largely due to their struggles in front of goal, having scored more than one goal in a game on just one occasion in their last 18 matches.

Everton are winless in their last nine matches away from home ahead of tonight's clash, but have lost just one of their last five meetings with Chelsea, winning their most recent visit back in December, however they have just win at Stamford Bridge in the last 29 years.
