Leeds United midfielder won’t be recalled by parent club as it stands

Leeds United midfielder Jack Clarke was sold to Tottenham Hotspur in this summer’s transfer window and immediately loaned back to the Yorkshire side for this season.

There have been rumours of Clarke being recalled by his parent club but Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has dispelled these reports and claimed that there is no place for Clarke at Spurs as it stands as confirmed by Football London News.

Leeds United forward Jack Clarke (47) during the EFL Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield United and Leeds United at Bramall Lane, Sheffield, England on 1 December 2018.

“Today, no. Today no. But football is dynamic. It always changes,” he said. “You know we have the people to look after Jack Clarke. We have the structure to look after him. I cannot think too much about Jack Clarke.”

“Of course I have all the reports every week but I cannot be focusing on what is going to happen with him in January. I need to be trying to help my players and the team today because we need to win on Saturday and on Tuesday. It is wasting time, with all my respect to Jack Clarke.”

The 18-year-old is yet to feature for a single minute of Championship action and until recently had even struggled for a place on the bench due to EFL rules of a maximum of five loan players in a match day squad.

Pochettino was asked for this thoughts on Clarke’s situation at Leeds. “Jack Clarke is at Leeds now. He is playing for Leeds. He is our player but he is on loan.”

“Of course, if you say to me today about Jack Clarke, I don’t know because today he has not got a place to come with us. What is going to happen in a few months, I don’t know,” said the Spurs boss.

It is unlikely that Tottenham will recall Clarke in January as they have so many quality forward players at their disposal but should another club come calling for Clarke’s services he could be sent on loan somewhere else should he continue not to be utilised by Leeds.
