Nottingham Forest set to do battle with Leeds United for highly rated Chelsea youngster

Nottingham Forest are set to do battle with Leeds United for highly rated Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour according to London Football News.

The teenager could be made available for a loan move if the Blues decides he needs more regular first team football away from Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old is highly thought of by Chelsea and their hierarchy with boss Frank Lampard handing him his first-team debut earlier this season.

Gilmour arrived from Rangers is also in Chelsea’s 25-man Champions League squad for this campaign and is a real promising young talent.

Leeds and Forest are said to be monitoring his situation with a view to making a move for the Scot. Gilmour is renowned for being good on the ball and strong in a challenge and he also played 90 minutes in the 7-1 win over Grimsby in the Carabao Cup and also came on for his Premier League debut in a draw against Sheffield United.

Gilmour is said to be open to a move away on a temporary basis. “I need to play more first-team games, at Chelsea or maybe out on loan,” Gilmour told BBC Scotland.

He added. “I need to get more experience. I’m training with the first team a lot and I’ve made a couple of appearances, so I can only get better if I keep going the way I have been.”

Nottingham Forest are currently blessed with a lot of central midfielders with the likes of Ben Watson, Samba Sow, John Rostock and Tiago Silva all capable of operating in the centre of midfield so it begs the question if Gilmour would receive a lot of first team football at the City Ground.

With Forest and Leeds both currently impressing in the Championship it may turn into an almighty battle to acquire the Chelsea youngster.
