Barnsley are searching for a new manager after parting company with Daniel Stendel. Here are five potential candidates for the vacant position-
Gareth Ainsworth- The current Wycombe Wanderers boss could be considered by the Tykes hierarchy. He has been in charge of the Chairboys since 2012 and has done an impressive job at Adams Park. The 46-year-old guided them to promotion to League One in 2018 and his side are currently 2nd in the league.
Adam Murray- He has been placed in caretaker charge until Barnsley find a successor for Stendel. The former Derby County, Carlisle United and Mansfield Town midfielder has stepped up from his role as Under-18’s manager. Could he be an option for the full-time job?
Paul Warne- His Millers side were relegated from the Championship last season but Barnsley may look at their Yorkshire rivals’ manager. Warne guided Rotherham to promotion from League One in 2018 and despite them returning to League One last season, he did obtain a decent reputation in the second tier.
Nigel Adkins- The former Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Reading and Sheffield United boss is eager to return to the dugout after leaving Hull City over the summer. He steadied the ship with the Tigers and would do the same at Barnsley.
Neil Harris- He has recently left Millwall after four years at the helm there. The 42-year-old did a solid job with the Lions and will no doubt get another job somewhere. Could he make an immediate return to management at Oakwell now?
