Internationals: Ceballos stars in Spain win

Dani Ceballos

We had five players in action on Thursday evening.

Scroll down to find out how they got on:

Dani Ceballos played a key role in Spain's Euro 2020 qualifying win over Romania. Our midfielder played 77 minutes before being replaced by Pablo Sarabia and was instrumental in the build-up to Spain's winning goal.

Ceballos played a defence-splitting pass with the outside of his boot to find Jordi Alba, who crossed for Paco Alcacer to tap home. Sergio Ramos had initially opened the scoring from the spot, with Florin Andone netting for Romania in the second half.

The result means that Spain have extended their run to five wins in a row atop Group F, ahead of Sunday's clash with bottom-placed Faroe Islands.

Granit Xhaka captained Switzerland to a hard-fought point against Republic of Ireland in Euro 2020 qualifying Group D. Our midfielder played the full 90 minutes, exchanging passes with Fabian Schar before the defender buried a low shot into the bottom corner, but Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick equalised with five minutes to go to hold the Swiss to a point.

It means Switzerland are six points behind table-toppers Republic of Ireland, but with two games in hand over Mick McCarthy's side. The first of those comes on Sunday, when they host Gibraltar in Sion.

Sead Kolasinac helped Bosnia & Herzegovina hit five goals past Liechtenstein without reply. Amer Gojak scored twice, with Edin Dzeko, Edin Visca and an Andreas Malin own goal all adding gloss to the scoreline during a frantic final 10 minutes in Zenica.

The result sees Bosnia & Herzegovina climb up to third in Group J, gaining momentum ahead of Sunday's away test at fourth-placed Armenia.

Sead Kolasinac

Kolasinac is likely to face a familiar face that afternoon, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan looking set to captain his country once more. Our playmaker, who is spending the remainder of the season on loan at Roma, played the full 90 minutes as Armenia nearly pulled off a shock result at home to Italy.

Alekandr Karapetyan gave the hosts a perfect start, slotting home in the 11th minute, but two from Andrea Belotti and another from Lorenzo Pellegrini saw Italy pull off a late victory.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Sokratis was our final player in action in Group J, playing the duration of Greece's 1-0 defeat to Finland. Teemu Pukki scored the winner from the spot after the interval, condemning Greece to their fourth consecutive defeat.

It means fifth-placed Greece only have one win going into Sunday's showdown with bottom side Liechtenstein.

We'll have another three Gunners hoping to be in international action on Friday, with Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah set to feature in England Under-21s' Euro qualifier against Turkey (6.45pm UK), while Bernd Leno could play for Germany against Netherlands (7.45pm UK).

And Lucas Torreira could feature in the early hours of Saturday morning, when Uruguay play Costa Rica in San Jose.
