Sheffield United manager focused ahead of promotion charge- “big push”

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has called for a “big push” from his players going into the final eight games of the Championship season.

The Blades are currently 2nd in the automatic promotion places after leap frogging Leeds United on Saturday after beating them 1-0 at Elland Road.

Chris Basham’s second-half goal has left Sheffield United in a great position leading into the final few hurdles of the season.

Their manager, Chris Wilder, is under no illusion that there is still plenty of work to do if they his side are to get promoted to the Premier League.

He has told the Blades’ official club website:We can play better with the ball than we did against Leeds but you have to do what you need to do to win a football match and I’ll gladly take the win.”

“We’ve done our bit for now, seven clean sheets in a row is an amazing record. The Leeds result has given us a big boost, we go into the international break full of confidence in second place.”

Wilder has expressed his delight with their weekend win: “Everyone was looking forward to the game, but I’ve been consistent in what I’ve said, it was not a season-defining result, we are not into the last three or four games, we have eight games to go.”

I’m fully respectful of all the teams we’ve got to play, anyone can beat anyone at any given moment in this league. We will rest, enjoy ourselves and then be back to work because with eight games left, now is the time for the big push.”
