Manchester United legend Roy Keane pushed back on Ian Wright labelling Bruno Fernandes as a 'winner'.

The Red Devils skipper is undoubtedly one of the Premier League's top midfielders, but his in-game attitude and leadership is repeatedly questioned.

Fernandes, who scored twice in Wednesday night's 4-2 win over Sheffield United, can often be seen throwing tantrums when things don't go his way or a teammate makes a mistake.

This was pointed out by Lionesses legend Jill Scott on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast.

The Euro 2021 winner insisted his actions are a sign that the United squad isn't unified, leading Arsenal icon Wright to stick up for the Portugal international.

He said: "Yeah but Jill, Bruno's a winner, he's got his fault where you see him doing that [throws arms in the air]."

It led ex-United captain Keane to snap back by saying: "He's won nothing in his career! He's 29 years of age, he's won nothing."

To which Wright replied: "He's the kind of player that is trying..."

Interjecting, Keane again rebuked Wright of his opinion of the 2022 Carabao Cup champion, as he stated: "What's he won in his career? He's won very little by the way."

Keen to get his point across, Wright continued: "In respects of wanting to be a winner, his standards are high.

"He's frustrated, he probably sees it in training every day, people not maybe up to the standard of what he's looking for.

"Yes, he's got every right to be upset with them, because they should be doing better."

Keane, who conceded during Wright's speech that Fernandes is a fine player, then said: "Yeah but the really good leaders, is he a talented player? Absolutely.

"I think he's a brilliant player, no doubt about that, a talented boy, but does he help people out?

"Does he make the other players around him better? The answer is 100 per cent no."
