Andre Onana was guilty of another calamitous error which gifted Sheffield United a shock lead over Manchester United.

Thankfully for the Red Devils goalkeeper, it didn't prove to be decisive as United ran out 4-2 winners over the Blades at Old Trafford.

But it could have proved crucial in the club's quest for European football after he passed the ball straight to Jayden Bogle, who then had the easy task of slamming home for the basement boys.

Onana looked to play the ball into Diogo Dalot, but his pass was too weak, allowing Bogle to nick in ahead before sprinting towards the goal.

And Bogle then tucked home into the back of the net from close range in the 35th minute to silence the home fans.

United fans were left furious on social media, as one X user said: "Onana what the f*** are you doing."

Another raged: "What a terrible mistake from Onana."

A third added: "Onana is a liability... quite simply the worst keeper in modern Utd history."

This supporter then messaged: "Onana was a terrible mistake...worst GK ever."

Meanwhile another simply stated: "That’s truly awful from Onana."

United fans had become accustomed to Onana making high-profile mistakes earlier in the season.

It led to Erik ten Hag to send him a warning after he shipped in 19 goals in his opening 11 matches since joining from Inter Milan last summer.

Despite his form improving in 2024, he has only kept two clean sheets this calendar year.

Thankfully for Onana, Harry Maguire spared his blushes just before the break at the Theatre of Dreams after heading home the equaliser.

Ben Brereton Diaz then put the visitors ahead five minutes into the second half after finishing off a brilliant move.

But they couldn't hold on for the lead, with Bruno Fernandes helping himself to a double before Rasmus Hojlund put the hosts 4-2 up in the 85th minute.

The result leaves United in sixth spot, while Sheffield United know they will be relegated on Saturday should they lose away at Newcastle.
