Ally McCoist says Jurgen Klopp will be ‘concerned’ after what has happened to Liverpool star

The international break is over and Liverpool can now focus on trying to win the Premier League title and the Europa League.

Many Liverpool stars, from South America to Europe, travelled around the world to represent their nations, mainly in friendly encounters.

Bearing that in mind, someone like Jurgen Klopp would have been hoping and praying that every single one of his players returned to Anfield fit and healthy.

But that hasn’t been the case after Andy Robertson hobbled off during Scotland’s 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland on Tuesday night.

Ally McCoist stated that it’s a ‘big concern’ for Liverpool in the final run-in and for Scotland ahead of Euro 2024, as he told talkSPORT (27/03/24 at 6:20 am).

The left-back has already been on the sidelines with an injury this season and many will be hoping this is just a scare and nothing more.

Former Scotland international Ally McCoist reacted to the injury and the worry that will be facing Jurgen Klopp and Steve Clarke right now.

Andy Robertson’s injury for Scotland

“That’s a bigger concern for Liverpool and Scotland,” said McCoist.

“We don’t know (his injury status). I tried to get a look this morning. That’s a bigger concern. Is it something to do with his ankle, is it?

“He has obviously been out for a good part of the season already, Andy Robertson, so that would be a concern for club and country – Steve Clarke and Jurgen Klopp would be more concerned and that would be the injury to Andy Robertson.”

Liverpool’s final run-in

This was the last thing Klopp would have wanted and a reason why club managers hate international breaks.

After losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup, those on Merseyside would have been chomping on the bit to return and get back on track again, as they push to win the Premier League title and the Europa League.

But it seems as though Klopp’s squad will be weakened again, especially with the Brighton game around the corner.

The slight positive is that you expect Liverpool to beat Brighton without Robertson and also Sheffield United – they can also call upon Joe Gomez.

But then it’s a trip back to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the Premier League, so if Robertson can be ready by then, if not before, then it’s only a small matter to worry about.
